OSHO: The Spiritual Dimension of Cancer
Osho responds here to a question of a person just diagnosed with cancer and asking him about her situation and he responds to her individually but also uses the opportunity to share his insights for a wider audience.
"You are fortunate to know that ..you are going to die, that you have cancer. Everybody has cancer, just a few people are lazy, you are speedy! ...people go on living under the illusion that they are going to live forever. They always see others dying. That logically supports their standpoint that "It is always the other who dies. I never die."
Osho addresses the importance of meditation in life and in the process of dying and explains his understanding of the "spiritual dimension of cancer", not to be confused with any esoteric nonsense to which cancer patience so often fall victim. Osho's response is a real and fundamental help to people who encounter such a life changing event like a cancer or terminal illness diagnosis.
